A firm built in the courtroom, for DuPage and Greater Chicago.

Since 1990, Dolci Weiland & Sendlak has protected individuals and families across DuPage County and the Chicago suburbs during the most challenging moments of their lives. We bring a proven history of dedicated advocacy into front of judges and juries throughout the region.

Today, we anchor our firm around two primary practices. Patrick J. Weiland commands our criminal defense work, leveraging nearly a decade of experience as a DuPage County prosecutor to defend the accused. Alexander Sendlak directs our family law practice, guiding clients through divorce, custody disputes, and the critical decisions that shape a family’s future. We also fight for clients in select civil litigation matters.

We regularly advocate for clients in DuPage, Cook, Kane, Will, and Kendall Counties, focusing much of our work in the 18th Judicial Circuit Court in Wheaton. Out in the community or inside the courtroom, we are battle-tested trial attorneys who will always tell you, plainly and honestly, exactly where you stand and what your options are.

Meet the attorneys behind the firm.

We have sat on both sides of these cases. No false comfort or scare tactics, just a straight read and the work behind it.

What You Can Expect From Dolci Weiland & Sendlak

No two cases look alike, and we do not treat them as if they do. But whether you are facing a first DUI or a contested divorce, the same three principles shape how we handle your case, from the first phone call to the final order.

1

Real trial experience

We prepare every case as if it may go to trial. That preparation shapes how the other side, and the court, sees the matter from day one.

2

Straight answers

You will hear what you are facing in plain language, not legal jargon. We explain your options and what each one means for your record, your family, and your future.

3

Two practices, one standard

Criminal defense and family law often overlap. Having both under one roof means your matter is handled by attorneys who understand how the two can affect each other.

Criminal Defense

When your freedom is on the line

Led by Patrick J. Weiland, former DuPage County prosecutor

From a first DUI to the most serious felonies, we defend clients against charges across DuPage and the surrounding counties, built on years spent on the other side of these cases.

Family Law

When your family is at a crossroads

Led by Alexander Sendlak

Divorce and parenting decisions are some of the most personal cases we handle. We help clients protect what matters and move forward with a clear plan.

Case Results

A Record We’re Proud of, Built Case by Case

These are a few of the cases we’ve taken on over the years, across both criminal defense and family law. Behind every one is a person who came to us at a difficult moment, and we’re proud of what we were able to do for them. No two cases are alike, so each client gets the same tailored preparation and the same commitment.

DUI

First DUI reduced to a lesser charge

A client was arrested for DUI after a late-night traffic stop. We challenged how the stop was conducted, and the charge was reduced to a lesser offense that allowed our client to keep their license and their freedom.

DIVORCE

A fair split in a high-asset divorce

With a family business and retirement accounts in play, a client worried about losing what they had built. We worked through the full financial picture and reached a settlement that protected their share.

DRUG CRIMES

Felony possession resolved without a conviction

A client faced a felony possession charge and a permanent record. We secured entry into a program that, once completed, resolved the case without a conviction on their record.

CHILD SUPPORT

Support order adjusted after a job loss

After a layoff, a client could no longer meet a support order set for a higher income. We petitioned for a modification, and the monthly obligation was adjusted to match their actual circumstances.

Results described are illustrative of matters the firm handles. Prior results do not guarantee a similar outcome in any future case.

I was in need of some serious legal assistance recently. It really was not looking good for me.

Pat Weiland is the best. He personally advocated for me to the state and I got my best possible outcome. I honestly can say Pat is a friend now. He turned a terrible situation around completely.

Alex has been truly exceptional throughout every step of my case. Even though my divorce lasted two years and became very expensive, he was always honest, supportive, and there for both me and my family… After the divorce, he continued helping protect me, my parents, and my children, which meant more than words can express… Because of his professionalism, empathy, and expertise, I would not hesitate to work with him again in the future and highly recommend him to anyone needing strong legal representation. I am so grateful!

I couldn’t be more grateful to Pat for helping me through my DUI case. From the very beginning, he was honest, responsive, and genuinely cared about the outcome. He walked me through every step, answered all my questions, and got my case dismissed!

If you need someone who’s reliable and knows what they’re doing, I highly recommend him…
